Picture books are often young readers' first introduction into the wonderful world of books. We want to help you find books that make kids' reading experiences delightful-- for the adults who read them and the kids who listen to them.
A beautiful and uplifting book about how to enjou any circumstances with the ones you love.
What a creative, funny go-beyond-traditional-gender-norms book! Look for the chicken butt and the monkey picking its nose... :D This should be a crowd-pleaser!
SO MUCH FUN!!! Natsumi is an exuberant girl whose family doesn’t always appreciate her energies. She tries a variety of traditional Japanese arts to participate in her village’s annual festival until her grandfather introduces her to taiko drumming-- a perfect fit!

What a wonderful reminder that it's difficult to keep up with the Joneses (or the scoffing Warrens, as shown in this book), but LOVE is what matters!
Beautiful visually and emotionally-- a testament to gentle, strong, reliable, patient, peaceful men-- and women!
Stylish, clever, cute, and delightful! A fun read-aloud. Let's just see how long it takes little listeners to memorize THIS, with lines like, "Around and/ around and around/and around./ The ground and a hog/ and some grey and a dog." I love it.
I adore Ada-- and her patient, loving family who learn to encourage, appreciate, and channel the curiosity of this natural-born scientist. Pure delight, by the author/illustrator duo's previous books, Rosie Revere, Engineer and Iggy Peck, Architect.
Explore the natural world and the alphabet with this picture book illustrated with gorgeous cut paper art. By the WAartist who did the regional favorite, S is for Salmon: A Pacific Northwest Alphabet. Ages 3+
*Holiday 2015 Recommendation*
This full-color illustrated early chapter book about a cat and dog in Paris is a great family read-aloud. From the author of Knuffle Bunny and the Elephant and Piggie books. Ages 4-9
Otto, a bear from a picture book, ventures afar in search of a book bear’s perfect home. Whimsical and wonderful!
I am in love with Wilfred! Wilfred the giant is a great friend to one brave little boy in this beautiful and uplifting picture book. Hooray for generous hairy giants!
This and the companion "reverso" poetry book, Follow, Follow amaze me-- poems that read backward and forward with very different meanings. They are full of stunning wordplay and fun illustrations. (They're also great for lessons on punctuation and point of view.)
I adore this! Panda's blase expression, the way he deems greedy or impolite animals unworthy of doughnuts, and the lemur's pairing of excitement and politeness make me laugh out loud and cheer.
Yes, please, I do deserve a doughnut, thank you!
Absolutely incredible! With girl power, battles royale, cozy sweaters, and a gassy pony, how can you go wrong?
